University of Languages & Communication, Milan (IULM)

If you wish to study at the University of Languages & Communication, Milan (IULM), you will have to meet one additional enrolment requirement: you will need a “Dichiarazione di valore in loco” (DVL)  in order to be able to get enrolled at IULM. Please find below all the necessary information about how to obtain a DVL:

A basic requirement for all international students, in order to be admitted to an Italian University Master Course, is that they hold a college or university degree equivalent to a three-year first level Italian degree.

International students must have successfully completed the equivalent number of years’ education as an Italian graduate, with at least 15 years of study (from primary school to university graduation).

You have to contact the Italian diplomatic authority (Consulate/Embassy) in the country where you have graduated and ask for the “Dichiarazione di valore in loco”(DVL). A DVL is a document which provides a short description of your academic or professional qualification. It states that your degree is valuable as a first-level Italian degree, specifies the total number of school years and the full name of the university where the degree has been taken.

Necessary documents to get DVL:

DVLs are issued in Italian when presenting an original/certified copy of your secondary school diploma, university degree certificate (or university diploma or equivalent qualification), 2nd cycle degree, if any, and transcript of exams and the legal translation of all documents (translation by an authorized translator and into Italian of these documents and legalization by the Italian Delegation competent for the area where graduation has been achieved)

If you cannot personally go the Consulate in the country where you have graduated, you should contact the Consulate/Embassy to ask if you can authorize somebody (for instance a relative) to act on behalf of you.
